If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Essaouira, a stop at Coffee Bashir is essential for an authentic Moroccan experience. Nestled in a prime location, this cafe not only serves as a cozy retreat from the bustling markets but also offers a delightful glimpse into local culinary traditions.

The atmosphere at Coffee Bashir is as vibrant as the city itself. With parasols shading you from the Moroccan sun, it’s the perfect spot to relax, sip on fragrant tea, and immerse yourself in the picturesque surroundings. Customers rave about the genuine warmth of the staff, who make every visit feel like coming home. As Justyna Kamińska wonderfully highlights, “Great place to try traditional Moroccan pancakes with butter and honey; very delicious!” These pancakes, paired with a steaming cup of mint tea, allow you to savor the soulful essence of Moroccan cuisine.

As you settle in, take a moment to enjoy a lovely cup of tea, praised by patron Krzysiek Niemiec for its exceptional quality. While the cafe may occasionally run out of certain food items earlier in the day (as noted in his review), the magical ambiance and the friendly demeanor of the staff more than make up for it. Pamela Zukowska’s enthusiasm shines through as she expresses her love for the delicious harira, a traditional Moroccan soup, and reiterates, “Amazing value for money and a great atmosphere.”

Whether you're spending long afternoons unwinding under shade or returning for an evening of good food and company—perhaps indulging in the café's popular msemen (flaky Moroccan pancakes)—Coffee Bashir is more than just a cafe; it’s a communal hub where stories are shared and memories are created. As Heike B elegantly puts it, “The best place to sit and spend time, having tea and watching the world go by.”

In a city rich with cultural heritage, Coffee Bashir stands out as a must-visit spot for both locals and travelers. You’ll leave not just with a full stomach but also with a heart warmed by the kindness of the people you meet. Make sure to include this gem in your itinerary when exploring the wonders of Essaouira—you won’t regret it!

At 11 am they couldn’t serve food because they were out. The tea however was great and the cafe is in a great location.

While away long afternoons under the parasols with tea then have some harira and msemen in the evening. Lovely people. Come!

Without a doubt one of my favourite spots in Essaouira. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the harrira is delicious and the tea is yummy. Amazing value for money and a great atmosphere. Can't wait to have a late evening tea at Cafe Bachir again!
